The Study of Need of Handicapped Children's Parents on the Therapeutic Education

ABSTRACT

Objective : The purpose of this study is to examine the problem of therapeutic education by investigating needs of handicapped children's parents on the therapeutic education.Methods : The subjects were distributed towards nationwide handicapped children's parents and 402 copies were returned. Analysis was performed using SPSS12.0 and including descriptive test. The measuring instrument, was developed by researchers, and corrected by several experts in order to secure the content validity, and used after being revised through pilot study of 20 researchers.Results : Regarding the demand on therapeutic groups, 77% of respondents wanted therapists who possess professional therapeutic skill. And 27% of all handicapped students received therapeutic education in school; 55% of students received rehabilitation treatment in the private institute. The fee of private therapy was 490,000won per month; 72% of respondents pointed out the lower quality on the problems of therapeutic education.Conclusion : In order to develop the treatment education required by parents, it was developted to therapist who possess the specific therapeutic skill as therapeutic teacher.
