ABSTRACT

Objective : This study aims to investigate the effect of multisensory environments(Snoezelen) on the autonomic nervous system. Methods : 32 college students received a session of Snoezelen for 30 minutes. participants were evaluated with the Campus Life Stress Scale in the pretest and ECG was evaluated in the pretest & posttest. The data were analyzed by SPSS program using Independet t-test and Paired t-test.Results : The autonomic nervous system(Mean HRV, SDNN, stress endurance, physical arousal, balance of ANS) was changed with significant difference(P<0.01) after Snoezelen program. However, there was no significant difference between the man/women and stress score on ANS.Conclusion : We realized that the use of snoezelen had a positive effect on the ANS. Thus the current study indicates the potential for future research into stress management.
