ABSTRACT

Objective : This study aims to investigate the effect of a fresnel prism for the reduction of unilateral neglect of left-side hemiplegia. Methods : This study used a reversal design (A-B-A'-B') for a left-side hemiplegia with unilateral neglect. The subject was trained for 20 sessions in total. Unilateral neglect was measured using MVPT, a line bisection test, an Albert test, and a cross out the X Test. Results : The MVPT pre-treatment raw score was 24, and the left response behavior score was 16, increasing to 32 and 19 after treatment, which means the subject's responding ability for left visual perception increased. The line bisection test, Albert test, and cross out the 'X' test showed decreased mean error scores of TreatmentⅠ,Ⅱ compared with Baseline and Withdrawn. This indicates that he took in a lot of information of the left field using a fresnel prism. Conclusion : The fresnel prism showed a beneficial effect for the reduction of unilateral neglect.
