A Study on Development of ‘Dysphagia Rehabilitation’ Course by DACUM Job Analysis

ABSTRACT

Objective : The purpose of this study was to develop courses of dysphagia rehabilitation in order to cultivate occupational therapists who have knowledge, technical skills and attitudes required in a clinical situations and to present a direction for specialized dysphagia rehabilitation. Methods : Job of dysphagia rehabilitation was defined by using job analysis technology of Developing a Curriculum (DACUM). Priority of jobs and a need of education were verified for occupational therapists who work in dysphagia rehabilitation. Knowledge, functions and instruments were checked for core work extracted through verification to draw subjects and compose curriculum. Results : Four duties which are related to dysphagia rehabilitation and eighteen works were checked. Based on the check, six core jobs were extracted and four subjects (basic theory, reason and characteristics of dysphagia, evaluation of dysphagia and dysphagia therapy) according to knowledge, function and instruments were drawn for 15 week course. Conclusion : The result of this study can be used as basic data for dysphagia rehabilitation education program and systematic education because this study developed subjects by concretely analyzing duty of dysphagia rehabilitation.
