ABSTRACT

Objective: The purpose of this study is to suggest the improvement plan of Driving Assistance Center for People with Disabilities(DACPD) based upon current state and survey. Method: Status survey of DACPD and a survey of 76 users of DACPD was conducted. The results were analyzed using frequency and descriptive statistics, one way ANOVA. Result: First, most of the respondents wanted to obtain a class 2 regular driver’s license, but no plan to drive after getting driver’s license because of lack of car and driving ability. Second, information about DACPD spread mainly through the Internet, acquaintance, welfare centers, promotional materials. Third, the most difficult parts of driving training were parking, checking the surrounding by rear view mirror/side view mirror, operation of steering wheel and shifting gears, lane keeping in that order. Fourth, the overall satisfaction level of DACPD is very high. But satisfaction level of geographical accessibility was the lowest. Fifth, the respondents required new opening of DACPD, strengthen of promotion about DACPD, guidance on benefits for the drivers with disabilities, strengthening of support after obtaining a driver’s license. Conclusion: This study was conducted to suggest improvement plan of DACPD to increase operational efficiency. We hope that this study will help to enhance satisfaction of DACPD and develop the various measures for self-driving for the People with Disabilities.
