ABSTRACT

Objective: This study systematically analyzed the effects of VR and AR on the intervention provided by occupational therapists. Methods: From January 2011 to December 2020, 10 years of studies were searched from the RISS, KISS, National Assembly Library, Pubmed, Web of Science, and Science Direct datasets. As the main search terms, ‘인지’, ‘작업치 료’, ‘가상현실’, ‘증강현실’, ‘Cognitive’, ‘Occupational’, ‘VR’, and ‘AR’ were used. A total of 18 studies were selected for the analysis through the four steps of the PRISMA Flowchart. Results: In all 18 selected studies, the cognitive intervention provided by the occupational therapist using VR and AR had a significant effect on improving the cognitive level. In addition, it showed significant effects in the motor function, daily life function, visual perception, and psychosocial parts. Conclusion: In this study, the effectiveness was confirmed by systematically examining the cognitive interventions provided by occupational therapists using VR and AR. The evidence-based clinical interventions were adequately used to provide meaningful clinical information. Such an approach is expected to be more useful and widely applied in clinical settings in the future.
