ABSTRACT
Objective : This study analyzed the types and effects of home-based sensory interventions for children with Autism Spectrum Disorder (ASD). Methods : Literature searches and study selection were conducted according to the Preferred Reporting Items for Systematic Reviews and Meta-Analyses guidelines using the Patient, Intervention, Comparison, and Outcome framework. A total of 3,446 articles were identified from domestic and international databases, including the Korean Studies Information Service System, Research Information Sharing Service, DBpia, ScienceON, e-Article, PubMed, the American Journal of Occupational Therapy, and the Occupational Therapy Journal of Research. Seven studies were selected based on inclusion and exclusion criteria. Data were analyzed according to Patient, Intervention, Comparison, Outcome, Time, and Study Design. Levels of evidence were evaluated using Arbesman et al.’s (2008) five-tier hierarchy, and risk of bias was assessed using Risk of Bias 2 and Risk Of Bias In Non-randomized Studies-of Interventions. Results : Parent-mediated, home-based sensory interventions—covering proprioceptive, vestibular, tactile, and play-based activities—improved occupational performance and satisfaction, with some studies also noting gains in parental behavior management. Conclusion : Home-based sensory interventions improved sensory regulation and daily function in ASD.
