ABSTRACT

Objective: In this study, we use the Delphi method to develop evaluation items that can identify the comprehensive cognitive functions of dementia patients in a community. Methods: The preliminary questions were developed through a literature review. Delphi surveys were conducted with a panel of 21 experts. In the first survey, opinions from panelists were gathered using both closed and open questions. In the second and third surveys, the Content Validity Ratio (CVR) of the items was investigated. The final items were then derived based on the consensus of the members of an expert panel. Results: As the first Delphi result, 68 items were selected. In the second Delphi result, there were three items with a CVR of less than .42, which were included in the third Delphi survey. As a result of the third Delphi, a total of 59 items were selected. The CVR of the final Delphi result was .89, the stability was .12, the convergence was .43, and the consensus was .81, which are considered high scores. Conclusion: In this study, we developed evaluation items that can confirm the overall cognitive function of dementia patients residing in a community. We hope that community occupational therapists will be able to use these items as basic data to objectively understand the functions of dementia patients and provide appropriate interventions.
